Physical Therapy

Physical therapy plays a vital role in restoring functionality, aiding in injury recovery, and easing discomfort. Our specialized team focuses on tailored therapeutic approaches for seniors, addressing concerns like flexibility, posture, balance, and coordination.

Outpatient Therapy

Our outpatient therapy services cater to those recovering from illnesses, surgeries, or hospital stays, including accidents, injuries, or procedures like joint replacements. By creating individualized treatment plans, outpatient therapy allows seniors to recover at home while maintaining their daily routines and accessing top-notch therapeutic care. Our experienced team, specializing in various therapy disciplines, ensures a tailored approach to each individual's recovery goals.

Short Term Rehab

At Vonderlieth Living Center, our mission revolves around providing exceptional, patient-centered care for seniors as they heal. Rehab to home is more intensive than acute care with longer treatment sessions, targeted exercise training, and specialized education to prepare patients for their return home.

The duration of a patient's short-term rehabilitation stay can vary, ranging from a few days to several weeks or, in some cases, up to 100 days, depending on their recovery needs. We aim to facilitate successful recoveries that empower residents to return home safely, fully equipped, and confident in resuming their daily activities.

Occupational Therapy

Collaborating closely with our physical therapy team, our occupational therapists guide residents through essential tasks like morning routines and household chores, fostering confidence and teaching techniques for safety.

Prior to discharge, therapists conduct a comprehensive home assessment to ensure safety, identify potential hazards, and assist with necessary equipment setup. This preparation enables a confident and secure return to everyday life.

Speech Therapy

Our skilled speech therapists specialize in assisting seniors with conditions such as cardiac episodes, nervous system disorders, and esophageal issues, including dysphagia; a swallowing disorder that can affect food intake and cause weight loss. Through personalized programs that incorporate muscle exercises, head postures, and dietary adjustments, we provide non-invasive methods for muscle strengthening and swallowing rehabilitation.

Wound Care

A critical concern for seniors is wound care, as aging affects skin fragility and healing abilities. Surgical incisions, accidents, and pressure can lead to challenging wounds, especially when conditions like diabetes and venous hypertension are involved. Our skilled nursing team works closely with wound physicians, primary care doctors, and other specialists to develop personalized care plans for various types of wounds, including pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, arterial wounds, diabetic neuropathic wounds, and post-surgical wounds. Our dedicated wound care services aim for faster healing, better infection management, and reduced hospital stays.

Respite Care

Respite care offers a short-term stay for seniors, providing caregivers with a much-needed break to recharge. Our skilled and compassionate staff provide around-the-clock care, ensuring continuous support for seniors during their stay. Unlike adult day services, our respite care offers comprehensive care throughout the entire stay. This valuable option is perfect for caregivers who need to leave home for business trips or personal reasons, allowing their loved ones to stay on our campus with access to services such as:

  • Medication management
  • Personal assistance
  • 24-hour nursing care
  • Socialization and activities
  • Mealtime assistance
  • Quality nutrition options
  • Laundry and housekeeping services

For those considering a permanent home for their loved ones, respite care serves as an opportunity to familiarize seniors with the nursing home environment and team. IV Care

At Vonderlieth Living Center, our highly skilled nursing staff provides intravenous (IV) therapy for seniors, understanding the crucial need for professional care for aging skin. Our expertly trained team administers IVs for various health concerns, providing swift and effective medication, fluid replacement, hydration, and correction of electrolyte imbalances.

Medicare Benefits

Medicare includes multiple parts:

  • Part A is hospital insurance, which covers hospital stays, care in a skilled nursing home, hospice care, and some home health care. This is the type of Medicare that covers the seniors’ inpatient hospital stay, and short-term skilled nursing stays with certain restrictions. Medicare covers skilled nursing care if a senior spends at least three midnights as an in-patient in the hospital.
  • Part B is medical insurance and includes certain doctors’ services, outpatient care, medical supplies, and preventive services.
  • Part C is a combination of each of the previously mentioned parts packaged together for one cost.
  • Part D is prescription drug coverage.

In most cases, when a senior has been admitted as an in-patient hospitalized for a minimum of three midnights and requires skilled nursing care, Medicare Part A provides coverage for a short-term stay. Following this initial period, extended services may be covered with supplementary insurance such as Blue Cross Blue Shield. The Vonderlieth team, boasting decades of experience in working with the Medicare program, assists seniors in understanding and navigating their benefits. We provide comprehensive information about coverage before and throughout their stay.

Dietary Needs

Our dieticians are instrumental in ensuring residents' nutritional requirements are fulfilled with fresh, home-style meals. Offering three wholesome and appetizing meals daily, we cater to diverse dietary requirements, including low-sodium, diabetic-conscious, or mechanical soft options, to align meal plans to health goals. Caloric intake is carefully calculated and monitored for each resident, supplemented with snacks and beverages.

Green Tree Pharmacy

Meeting the needs of our residents is the highest priority at Vonderlieth Living Center, and our partnership with Green Tree Pharmacy exemplifies this commitment. Green Tree excels in the precise and efficient ordering and distribution of medication. Their geriatric pharmaceutical experts work closely with our care providers during monthly medication reviews and pharmacy recommendations related to labs and dosing.
