50 Years of Compassionate Care

In 1959, Henry Vonderlieth and his wife, Jane, visited Mount Pulaski and shared their plan to form the Henry and Jane Vonderlieth Trust to build a community hospital following their passing. Mount Pulaski was quick to accept The Vonderlieth’s offer but learned from the State of Illinois that a hospital in Mount Pulaski wasn’t feasible. Instead of giving up on the plan to provide a valuable community asset, Mr. Vonderlieth worked with Mr. Harry Wible and determined that what was really needed was a nursing home.

From Vision to Reality

Thus the Henry & Jane Vonderlieth Living Center opened on October 21, 1973. Since then, additional residential rooms were constructed in 1976, and a therapy room and an activity room were added in 1998. Vonderlieth Living Center has gone on to serve over 2,400 residents since opening 50 years ago and continues the same legacy of providing expert care to the residents of Mount Pulaski and its surrounding communities.
